Hiking on Our Theme Trails in Serfaus
On our theme trails the reward is neither the peak nor the journey.
On these easy hikes, we give attention to different, interesting and up-to-date topics that relate to the village. In a few words, the information boards will teach you interesting facts about the village’s water supply, something mystical about the spirit world, the world of flowers and the children’s mascot, the groundhog.

The enchanted trail
This is where dreams come true, especially for children, but adults will also have fun. With a telescope made from a tree you can observe the village and take a peek at the inside of the houses; in the “Wunschtor” you can also confide your secret wishes to your favourite ghost.
Starting from the „Riefengatter“ (above St. Zeno, at the fence before entering the forest), the enchanted trail is marked well, so that the ghosts won’t misguide you and you’re sure to return safely.
This path leads you towards „Madatschen“ – where you also can take a break – but it first crosses the street and meets „St. Georgenweg“ at the end, where you can return to Serfaus. The time for meditation and talking to the ghosts aside, you’ll need two hours for the entire circuit.

Fresh spring water is a blessing for every hiker! Take either the cable car up to mid-station (Kölnerhaus) or do the two hours by foot from the village.
The spring trail
Fresh spring water is a blessing for every hiker!
Take either the cable car up to mid-station (Kölnerhaus) or do the two hours by foot from the village. From the mid-station, keep going toward “Sommerjoch” (Joch hike). After a few hundred meters, you’ll come across the first station of the spring trail (Quellenweg). Here you’ll find a rustic, yet oddly comfortable seating arrangement made out of spruce branches, just like you’ll find at the other stations. You’ll also see the following wells: the “Ochsenbrünnl”, the “Seablasbrünnl”, the “Schafquelle” and the “Jochtränke”, in that order.
The spring trail leads you to the extensive and fertile drinking water area of our village. Due to the sensitivity of this region, you are kindly requested not to litter. Interesting facts about our drinking water are explained on information boards. (Estimated hiking time: approx. 2 hours from the mid-station to the end of the spring trail and approx. 4 hours to get back to the village).

The flower trail
An utter “El Dorado“ for botanists and nature lovers is the “Laustal”
It is a high valley with a very special appeal. Starting at the “Schalberalm”, this region extends out west toward the “Rotenstein”. The “Laustalbach” winds right through the middle of the velvety meadows and luscious mountain fields. On both sides of this brook and on the damp mountainside of the “Lazid“ is a blooming world of flowers that is second to none and even dwarfs the remaining area of the “Komperdell”. Every year, the “hiking guide Kurt” reaches his new “flower path”.
We think it’s nice – and important – when one knows the name of his or her favorite flowers. After just a few visits, you’re certain to be much more familiar with them and you will then belong among the experts. (Estimated hiking time: none available!)

The groundhog trail
For all fans of animals of the Alps such as the groundhog
Starting from the mountain station “Lazidbahn“, past the narrow ridge of the “Böderköpfe” and after branching off onto the “Scheid” toward “Furglersee”, you will reach groundhog country. This stretches from here to the lake, over the wide fields of the “Unteren” and “Oberen Glockhäuser” as well as the “Sommerjoch”, all the way to the “Sattelköpfen”. There are thousands of groundhog homes here and you can constantly hear the lurid, yet familiar warning sounds from the ‘guard’ of the groundhog colony during your hike.
From the “Scheid“ up to the “Furglersee“, the “hiking guide Kurt“ has laid out his groundhog trail. It’s hard to believe that the groundhogs would wait until someone approaches to pose like models, but if you’re patient and wait around for about 15 minutes – and refrain from singing the “Bozner Bergsteiger” song – then they will peep out of their holes because they are incredibly curious. The golden eagle knows this as well and the curiosity of the groundhogs have cost some their lives. On this trail, you are informed about the habits and lives of the groundhogs. Especially on this trail, the phrase “take your time!” rings true. (Estimated hiking time: approx. 2 hours from the head of the groundhog trail; the entire hike out and back to the mid-station takes around 3.5 hours).

The Fisser Gonde adventure theme trail
Difficulty level - easy | Time approx. 1 hour: 30 minutes | Altitude meters ascending 150 m.
The Fisser Gonde natural monument has been on the protected list since July 22, 1978 and can be found at an altitude of 1,820-1,950 m above the Möseralm. It boasts a size of 40,000 sqm. The mountainous slopes surrounding the Fisser Gonde belong to the Samnaun group and are made up largely of Bündner slate and quartz phyllite.
Itinerary: The themed trail begins right next to the Möseralm mountain restaurant. First, cross the fields, over a streambed and through the “gateway” into the spruce high forest that lies under the Fisser Gonde. Now follow the historical mountain trail, which was formerly used by farmers to reach their fields.
Another trail branches off that will bring you right up to the Fisser Gonde and the panoramic view of this natural phenomenon. At the end of this route, a comfortable rest area offers plenty of time to pause in the middle of the slightly overgrown mountain fields.
At 705 m, the trail reaches nearly 150 altitude meters and offers a lot to see, discover and experience along the way. So, you should allow about 1 ½ hours for this wonderful experience.

Brezina’s mountains of adventure – Witch’s trail
Many things on this trail seem to be enchanted
But where are all these bewitched things in the witch’s forest? Having overcome a series of obstacles and after encountering mysterious apparitions, children on an adventure hike in the Tyrolean vacation area of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis were astonished to suddenly come upon a witch’s cottage that was literally standing on its head. When they entered the mysterious house, they found that the furniture had done a headstand, too. It’s still uncertain as to who used to live in the little house and how its topsy-turvy state came about ...

Brezina’s mountains of adventure – Explorer path
Experience a great expedition into nature’s striking variety on the explorer path in Ladis. In the woods near the village of Ladis in the Upper Tyrolean Inn Valley, a mysterious tree house along with oversized animals and plants of inexplicable origin has triggered extensive investigations.
According to a first official statement, the tree house might be the quarters of an unknown scientist involved in experiments in nature. The scientist, however, has disappeared without a trace. Once the summer has begun, children’s search parties will be sent in to explore the vicinity of the tree house and find an explanation for the phenomena…

Enjoyment panorama trail
Hiking in the mountains is good for body and soul and it’s always a special experience. The only thing that some find difficult is the effort required to reach the summit; but that’s not the case in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. First of all, the villages are located on a plateau, which means that you’re already 1,200-1,400 m above sea level. Secondly, starting this summer there will be the easy-to-hike enjoyment panorama trail. The mountain enjoyment starts when the cable car reaches the mid-station Komperdell in Serfaus.
The wide and well-built hiking trail leads towards Fiss to the Möseralm without a noticeable altitude differences. The beautiful panoramic views of the many peaks at almost 3,000 m provide an intensive experience of the natural surroundings. Take the cable car back down to Fiss – or descend on foot if you like – and walk across freshly mown meadows of flowers to the smallest village of Ladis. Of course, in the reverse direction the panoramic enjoyment path is just as pleasurable.

SIX SENSES – GENUSSERLEBNISWEG DER SINNE - kinderwagentauglich
