Road Bike Region: Serfaus - Fiss - Ladis
Simply for pleasure
Even in the early afternoon, it is quite common for the sun to be already hidden when you drive from Landeck along the Inn river towards South Tyrol or Switzerland. Here, there are high mountains casting their long shadows down into the valley. But, if you leave the road and drive west following the signposts to Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, you will soon have a pleasant surprise.
Nowhere else in the country does the sun shine more often or longer. The mighty 3000m high mountains of the Samnaun Group and the Ötztal Alps frame the holiday region of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. The racing bike tours begin effortlessly with the stunning descent from the Alpine plateau.
Then, from a point some metres lower, there are many routes into the neighbouring Tyolean Oberland, the Ötztal and the Kaunertal valleys.
Without the pressure of competing and with no rivals to worry about, we can experience the unique attractions of Europe’s most beautiful panorama route, the Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße, such as the Urfel Gorge or the Wurmetal stream with its impressive waterfall right beside the path.
29 hairpin bends lead us up to the Weißseeferner, 2,750 metres high. The view will take your breath away – thankfully, the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis bike shuttle is there to take us back to the plateau.
